The Annual General Meeting of the Finnish Ports Association was held in Helsinki on 15 April 2025. The meeting covered statutory items and elected a new board for the association.
Ville Haapasaari, CEO of Port of Helsinki Ltd, was re-elected as Chair of the Board, and Anders Ahlvik, CEO of Port of Hanko Ltd, was elected as the new Vice Chair.
Anders Ahlvik, newly appointed Vice Chair, emphasized the importance of collaboration:
“The significance of ports to Finland’s competitiveness is substantial and wide-reaching. Ensuring and developing the operational conditions of ports is more important than ever. I am pleased to continue working to advance the industry together with a competent board.”
The meeting also confirmed the association’s updated rules and official name: Suomen Satamat ry, Finlands Hamnar rf. In addition, the 2025 action plan and budget were approved, along with adjustments to the 2026 membership fees.
After the formal AGM, the port leadership continued discussions on current topics. Päivi Antikainen, Director of Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, also participated. Other topics discussed included port weather observation data, hinterland connections, and safety assessments. The Finnish Ports Association’s new strategy was also presented to members.
